Jay has been playing, singing, and arranging music since the tender age of five years old. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from Taylorsville High School. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Organ Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University and was a guest organist at the Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle for a brief time. He then pursued a Master's Degree in Business, also at Brigham Young University.
Since that time, Jay has played gigs throughout the U.S., including at the Homestead, Greenbrier Resort, Lansdowne Resort and Conference Center, and the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. He plays for church services, weddings, funerals, corporate social functions, community functions, private parties, and is known for his ability to connect with his audience in a deeply personal way.
His songs and musical style are inspired by the likes of Yanni, Josh Groban, John Tesh, Jim Brickman, Michael McClean, and Marquita Gerber.
Jay has produced 2 CD's and arranged music for the Roanoke, Virginia, stake music production of "Angels Among Us." He recently returned from Salt Lake City, where he accompanied a 350-voice choir on the Tabernacle Organ during two performances of the LDS Church cultural celebration, Recibid al Rey. Jay also gave a Christmas concert at the Vinton War Memorial in Vinton, Virginia.
Jay and his lovely wife, Bridget, are the parents of two teenage sons and recently celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary. For pics of the family click here.
